Welcome to another addition of world Wednesday everyone! Did you have a great time on the last trip to South Africa? Because we are now headed to up-beat city of Dubai in the United Emirates States!

If you are planning on visiting this gorgeous city, you will be flying into the Dubai International Airport which is also the main hub for the major airline, Emirates. As you head into the city, you will probably notice the amount of people living there. As of 2018, the cities population just surpassed 3 million people. You might be thinking, wow there is a lot of home grown citizens that live here, but only 15% of natural born citizens live in Dubai with foreigners making up the majority of population. With this city being in the Middle East, you will likely notice that Arabic is the top language with English also being spoken quite frequently as well. Dubai is one of the 7 Emirates that form together to be called the United Emirates.

If you are like me I love eating and checking out all of the restaurants on vacation. Dubai has some delicious food with shawarma being the most popular dish. It is kind of like a kabob with meat, vegetables and dressing all wrapped into a delicious pita bread. Doesn't that just sound amazing! I will take five! As you begin to explore the different types of foods and museums you will notice the amount of people living in this city is just staggering. It is one of the most progressive cities. If you are considering leaving the United States to spend Christmas in Dubai, be forewarned that this city is one of the most popular cities in the world to spend a holiday in.

Dubai was founded back in 1833, but at that time it was just a small fishing port. But all of a sudden in the 1980s and especially the 1990s the city started to grow exponentially and to become what is know a world class tourist destination today. Just think, back then it was a small town but right now the cities receive 14 million tourists a year. More then 3 times the amount of people that actually live there!

If you want to feel more youthful too, then this is the city to book a vacation too! More than half of the population that lives in Dubai is between 25 and 34. Only 15% of people that live there is 45. If you are looking to improve your tan as well, you might get more then you bargained for here. The climate in Dubai is hot, humid and subtropical. The average temperature in the summer time is a hot and steamy 108 degrees with a comfortable 75 degrees during the winter time. No snow! But if you are looking for a nice cozy rainy day to curl up and read a good book, you will be disappointed. Dubai only receives only 3.7 inches of rainfall per year.

How can you see the tourist attractions and enjoy all the good food that the city offers? By train! Dubai has the longest automated train network in the world. And when I mean by the longest we are talking over 46 miles. So this would be a very cost efficient way to explore the city and enjoy all of the sights and food of their culture. If you are a tourist and you fall in love with the city, you cannot actually ever attain permanent citizenship status. Even if you live there for a long time you cannot attain it either, unlike the United States where you need to live in this country a certain amount of year to become a United States citizen.
